When we were little?
I used to make these all the time, and pretend to be a queen, or a princess, master of my own destiny. They were really works of art, works of the imagination, works of a forgotten childhood.

So, so bummed.

But Spain deserved it. Germany, where was your ambition today?

Life.

If you think about it, we're all, really, just lost in the abyss, in the great wide open emptiness of life. We surround ourselves with things, with families, with love, but on the deepest level we're all alone. It's just us. It's just you. I am me, just me, treading water, staying alive, looking around at the infinite possibilities.

Oh, Gregory Maguire, you are magnificent. What I wouldn't give to see the theatre adaptation, however much I will despise the changes made, purist that I am.

Just bought the sequels, Son of a Witch and Lion Among Men, they are so good.

Escapism

I went to Chapters today. It was beautiful there. So many stories waiting to be unfolded, so many imaginations brought to bursting in that little enclosure. Something about bookstores feels spiritual, almost, like the truth of these books is too much for one place to hold.

This makes me stronger.
