Dazy Eyes

Sleep wrinkles & bed posts beckon, but I have to
stay awake; there is
terror beyond
meaning
in my subconscious. Have to stay awake
until my eyelids
droop
shut,
lashes plastered to my cheekbones. Daisy eyes twitch, yawn;
hazy
lazy
crazy
eyes. With skeleton fingers, I pry apart my irises and they
burn
like salt water wounds. Pupils
contract. Can’t let myself fall asleep, but disjointed thoughts
grope
their way around my neurons, hush hush hush, strangling the
electric wires of my mind. Nightmares
leer from behind gossamer walls and I can’t help it
my lashes whisper closed and
I
am
so
afraid.

What do you think? Much more editing to do of course, but give me some feedback, I want to enter this into that contest.
